Launched by the National Heritage Foundation in 1997 and in collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, the National Heritage Day, fixed on the third Thursday of May has become a national annual event.

It was celebrated for the first time in Beirut with a great success marked by the participation of a remarkable number of citizens in particular the school and university students who visited the archaeological sites, monuments and the museums in all regions of Lebanon.
